Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar™ Launch

The teaser video for this product was part of the most critical and confidential Belkin product launch in 2016. It coincided with Apple's announcement of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus which eliminated the AUX cable on the phone. This Belkin cable adapter enabled consumers to use their new Lightning headphones while simultaneously charging from a single port on the phone. I pitched the idea of using vector animation for a simple, but playful solution to potentially surprising and frustrating situation for Apple users. We needed a concept that we could execute quickly since we were operating in the dark without being able to see the new phone. I created stylized illustrations where we could get away with a basic representation of an iPhone. I created the prototype for the animation in Flash before bringing the final edit into AfterEffects to create the more sophisticated motion and camera moves. The video gained 36,000 views on YouTube in less then 24 hours and 120,000 views in 5 days — one of the most popular YouTube videos in Belkin's history at that time.
